Your first tooth
You cut your first tooth today. I happen to notice it only because you kept bringing my finger to your mouth and insisted on biting me :P OUCH! No wonder you've been having a rash on your cheeks.. not because of the food!! :D Current Mood: proud | | Wednesday, January 18th, 2006 | | 5:07 pm |
Your first cold
Well, it was inevitable. I knew that you would have to get one sooner than later, just wish it was later :P. Your daddy was really sick this weekend, which says alot since he NEVER gets sick. But he had a really bad head cold that was causing him alot of misery. Sore throat, congested and coughing with a bit of fever, which is what you now have. I'm not really sure about a sore throat but I know that you've been nursing - or trying to - alot more often so I think your very thirsty due to your throat being dry. Your poor nose :P Man, I never knew babies had so much snot!! Also, combine all of this with teething, and you'd expect a really cranky baby right?? Nope, you still smile and laugh and play - only now with a runny nose and sniffles :) Your last temp taken at around 3pm was 36.7C (98F). So I will keep tabs on how you are doing for the next little while (2 days) and call your doctor tomorrow to let her know what's happening and ask what to look out for to merit a visit to the office. EDIT - 7:45pm and your temperature is now 37.0C (98.6F) and your eyes are swollen and glassy but you are still alert and smiling when your daddy talks to you. You are such a happy sickly monkey :P :) Love, Your exhausted and congested Mommy Current Mood: tired | | Thursday, December 1st, 2005 | | 5:58 pm |
4 month check up
You had your 4 month wellness checkup today. You now weigh 13lbs 4oz, measure 25 inches and doing very well. You have a bit of rash on your belly again. The doc suggests that I keep you in 100% cotton only and see if its the clothes. Also, I need to put vaseline on your skin since you've also developed eczema. She's really happy with your color so no more jaudice - YAY!! Vitamin D has been added to your supplimentary diet. You are to still keep getting the Iron as well. Doc also suggested that we start you on cereal because you still wake for a feed in the night. I really think we should wait since you seem satisfied after you feed and you sleep well when you do go down. Your Daddy thinks we should try it out, so we'll see.. You also survived your second set of immunization shots. You were NOT happy about it but I tried to keep you focused on me and then held you after you were done. You were very brave and when we got home gave Daddy your usual coy smiles. You're asleep now - poor baby, you are so exausted! I sent your pictures and a copy of your birthstory to your Grandma Carla in New Brunswick. She was extremely happy to finally see what you look like. :D That's all for now! Just another night....
and you're keeping up hoping!! You seem to need alot of attention these past few days. One minute you are happy, and the next you are crying with tears streaming down your face.. how heartbreaking!! I just wanted to add this picture here. It was taken last weekend at you Aunt Colleen's place while I was out shopping for you. You are just sitting there, contemplating what you want to do, sleep or eat :D xoox Mom | | Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005 | | 5:42 pm |
Happy 3 months baby!
We went to see your doctor yesterday for a follow-up from last time. I was worried that we were going to have to get some more blood drawn to measure your jaudice levels again, but she really liked your color and didnt think it was necessary!! :D That made Mommy and Daddy very happy. Also, you have a slight belly rash but we think it's due to the formula (Enfalac) that you spat out on Monday night ;) It's gone down quite a bit now with only little bumps left. You now weight 11lbs, 13oz and measure 24 inches in length. ( Below the cut are some.. PICTURES!! ) | | Friday, October 28th, 2005 | | 12:51 pm |
Week 12
Hello monkey.. you have managed to settle yourself to sleep twice this week. Once on Tuesday morning when I got up at 6am, and now while I was cleaning the kitchen. It doesn't last long ;) but at least your not screaming for me all the time, expecting me to carry you or hold you whenever you want.. which is all the time. Your at that stage that you need to be entertained all the time and I just don;t have the energy or the capabilities to do that. I wish that I had someone to help with that, if only to give me ideas on how to amuse you. Someone is coming next week to talk about that with Beryl (Halton Nurse). Her name is Holly and hopefully her and I will get along. I seem to snap at the least provocation and my patience is really thread bare.. You continue to amuse us with your coos and smiles. You are really starting to pay attention to your surroundings and holding your head up on our shoulder is not a problem for you at all. You don't like doing that on the floor, but again, that's because I can't leave you on the floor for too long or else the dogs will be all over you ;) I know I should have more pictures of you on here but I find it hard to do that since I need my desktop for that and its upstairs and your playpen is here in the livingroom. I may beg your daddy to download the program on my laptop and see if I can load the pictures from here. I really don't have alot of time to do that but if I can do about 15 minutes a day, we should be ok... ;) I've started scrapbooking with Creative Memories and loving it. I have 2 books of you already and looking forward to finishing them up. You are now demanding me so off I go... xoxo | | Thursday, October 13th, 2005 | | 12:11 pm |
Week 10 - update
Boy, what a happy baby you are!! You weigh a wopping 10lbs 3 oz and measure 22 inches long. You are awake alot and give big smiles to both Mommy and Daddy. Your first Thanksgiving was a good one. You went and visited both set of Grandparents and they loved you up really good. Your Aunt Kathy fed you a bottle and your Aunt Erica took some pics of you which I'll post later (I'm on the wrong computer..) The only downside is that your iron levels are really low causing your jaundice to return. So the Doctor wants us to give you iron fortified formula as well as your iron supplement on top of breastmilk so we've been busy trying to balance that as well as to convince you that bottles are good. You keep spitting out the formula and keep looking for me to feed you properly... monkey :P ;) Will try to update some more later.. Someone asked for pictures?? ;) Here's one of my favorites - I call it "BOO!" | | Tuesday, September 20th, 2005 | | 3:11 pm |
You are 7 weeks old today!
Time rushes by it seems. You are almost 2 months old and you have changed so much. You are feeding alot and have started to spit up alot lately too :P Also, especially today, you are much more awake and aware and it's fun watching you take all of your surroundings in and try to make sense of it all... At your last doctor's appointment, you weighted in at 6lbs, 13 1/2 ounces. That was August 30th. You are much much heavier now, and I would hazard a guess that you are close if not at 8bls. Your next appointment is on October 4th and that is when you get your first immunization shots. Mommy normally doesn’t do well with needles - I always get Rob or an assistant to hold the pups when they get their shots done) so I don't know how well I'll be with yours. You also had to attend your first funeral in August. On the 27th of August, your Great Grandfather passed away and it was very emotional. Everyone said what a blessing it was that you came as early as you did so that you could have some time - although fleeting - with him. He was so excited to know that he was finally going to be a great grandfather that he waited until you came safe and sound before taking his leave from us. He will be your guardian angel and we are adding his name to yours so that he will always be remembered, Your crib is finally here and Daddy is going to be put it together this weekend. I hope you take to it well. You hate being in the bassinet now and only want to sleep with me on the bed. Personally, I love the fact that you are so close and all I have to do is reach for you when you need to be fed... I also love the feel of you falling asleep on my chest afterwards.. so I selfishly hope that we can still do that for a little while longer :) (Sorry Daddy.. ) Your sleep pattern and feeding pattern is all over the place. You went through a pretty frantic growth spurt in the last 2 weeks (still going through it I think (and it seems that all you want to do is eat). I am going to have to see a lactation consultant soon however since I feel that I can't really get you to latch on properly 100% of the time and you are not getting all the fatty milk you should be getting (there are two types of milk - fore and hind milk. Hind milk is the fatty milk and it has the most nutrients and keeps you full longer). I need to get you and I out of the house a little bit since the weather is now turning out really nice. My allergies and lack of sleep have hampered this since I am exhausted and not feeling really great. But today is a good day and as soon as I hit this post button, I will get into the shower and we can maybe go for a bit of walk.. Think you'd like that?!? :) Love, Mom | | Saturday, September 10th, 2005 | | 9:19 am |
Bhahahaha
Every time I sit down to write something in your journal, you scream for my attention... How in the world am I supposed to get the time to write what's happening with you when you wont settle??!! :D Will try again later.... xoxo Mom | | Thursday, August 25th, 2005 | | 11:25 am |
Baby Baby how I love thee
But PLEASE PLEASE let me sleep.. :P You have been having some major issues about sleeping at night. You sleep all day, up all night and when I try to get you comfortable, you scream at me.. :P Your nose is congested, you are having some constipation issues as well, but when you get unplugged (sorry, had to say that) you sleep like the dead. Today is one of those days that I wish your Daddy could have stayed home with us so that he could snuggle you up and I could get some much needed sleep. As it stands, I'm over-tired and can't rest properly - probably because you'll be up in an hour to two for another feeding.. To make things even more pleasant, there are workers in our backyard working on the grading for Mattamy so that when the city comes to inspect the properties in the next two weeks, the gradings are approved. This is good news since I was going to call Mattamy and the City to see if everything was OK to get a fence installed. The bad news is that this is aggravating the dogs and waking you up.. :P Oy, the joys of being a Stay At Home Mom... ;) Current Mood: exhaustedCurrent Music: baby snores | | Thursday, August 18th, 2005 | | 1:43 pm |
Rough night last night
I guess its now happening - you have started to fuss :P ;) You slept all day yesterday again, so that made it A OK to be up allllllll night ;) Mommy and Daddy had the neighbours over for some dinner. They brought their 15month old - who was crusty as all get out because she's teething - and you did NOT wake up when she was fussing - LOUDLY right next to you in your playpen. But as soon as you woke up for your 9pm feed, you STAYED UP until 4AM!! :P You would doze in my arms, but refused to sleep in your bassinett. And when you finally did go down, it was just to wake an hour later for another feeding... You are sleeping again now (its 1:40pm) after a very good feeding, but I think I'll make a point of having you awake for at least an hour or two later this afternoon to re-calibrate your clock.. nighttime is for sleeping, not party time.. ;) xoox Mom Current Mood: exhaustedCurrent Music: crickets | | Wednesday, August 17th, 2005 | | 12:26 pm |
Your second doctor's appointment
Yesterday you had your second Drs appointment. tt was really quick and the Doctor says that you are doing really well. You gained 9oz since last week so you are now 5lbs 12oz. which is great news for Mommy. It means that you are feeding well and I don't have to stress that you are not getting your fill anymore :D Your next appointment is your 1 month check up (already :P) and that will be on the 30th of August. I posted some pictures of you in my journal. When I have a chance, I will put them here too. I love you my angel.. more than I can ever put into words. xoxo Mommy Current Mood: tired | | Friday, August 12th, 2005 | | 7:23 am |
You lost your umbelical cord yesterday - You have a beautiful innie bellybutton! :D Of course I had to rush downstairs to show your Daddy... ;) xoxxo J | | Thursday, August 11th, 2005 | | 1:55 pm |
I love this song Artist/Band: Martina McBride Lyrics for Song: In My Daughter's Eyes Lyrics for Album: MartinaIn my daughter's eyes I am a hero I am strong and wise and I know no fear But the truth is plain to see She was sent to rescue me I see who I wanna be In my daughter's eyes In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal Darkness turns to light and the world is at peace This miracle God gave to me gives me strength when I am weak I find reason to believe In my daughter's eyes And when she wraps her hand around my finger Oh it puts a smile in my heart Everything becomes a little clearer I realize what life is all about It's hangin' on when your heart has had enough It's giving more when you feel like giving up I've seen the light It's in my daugter's eyes In my daughter's eyes I can see the future A reflection of who I am and what will be Though she'll grow and someday leave Maybe raise a family When I'm gone I hope you see how happy she made me For I'll be there In my daughter's eyes | | Wednesday, August 10th, 2005 | | 3:02 pm |

Your first doctors appointment
Met with Dr, Pfeiffer today for your first post-partum check up. Dr loves your color since you went a bit yellow on me on Friday night, You and I went to the hospital on Saturday morning to have your bilirubin levels measured. You left the hospital with a count of 194 on Friday, and on Saturday, your levels climbed up to 258. We were assured that it was nothing to worry about since the danger levels are at 280 and higher. I was to continue to feed you the way I have (every 2-3 hrs) and monitor your movements to check for lethergic or non-responsiveness. Of course at every feed you are wide awake and anticipating food :) Your weight is back up to delivery weight (just a little over 5lbs, 3oz) and you measure 19 3/4 inches long. Since you were a bit early, she wants us to add some iron to your diet so Daddy will be picking up your first prescription after work tonight. Your reflexes are bang on, your alert and you have given her nothing to worry about. We go back next week for your follow up on August 16. | | 12:23 pm |
Your here!!
Rebecca Dawn was born on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at 8:04am. I have a whole story thought out for how you came to be with us so early ;) I want to take some time to write it out properly so this will become a two-part post. Veronique and Jason gave us a wonderful card with this poem that I had to write out since I plan on having it recreated for you as a poster. Love, Mommy " SOMEDAY, she'll be a famous pianist or a high school science teacher. She'll settle down, marry, have a couple of kids. Maybe she wont. SOMEDAY, she'll help millions of people all over the world. Or maybe she'll travel, send letters from Africa or phone you from Rome. SOMEDAY, she'll be a strong, confident woman.... ...but you'll always remember the first time you held her in your arms. SOMEDAY, she'll have her own hopes and dreams, not knowing that once upon a a quiet time, you closed your eyes and dreamed to have her in your life.
